The Children's Society: CARE (Children at Risk of Exploitation) Together

The CARE Together team support children and young people aged 8-18 years who are at a medium risk, (clear indicators of risks and concern), of criminal or sexual exploitation. We also work with young people up to 25 years old if they are a care leaver or have a SEND diagnosis. We work on a one to one and group work basis around all forms of exploitation. We also work with parents and families affected by child exploitation.

Who can use this service?

The current criteria is that we can work with anyone aged 8-18 years, that they reside in Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock), that they are medium risk and that they are not already engaging with other support around exploitation. Referrals are accepted from anyone including self-referrals.

How are services delivered?

Services are delivered in the community. CARE is unable to meet all young people at risk of exploitation in Essex, we therefore use the Essex Effective Support Document to identify level of risk. Professionals are advised to call and speak to the CARE Together service manager to discuss referral suitability prior to submitting a referral.
