ECL Chelmsford Older People Day Centre (Charles Dickens)

Our day centre provides a warm and welcoming space where older people can meet others, participate in a wide range of activities, and enjoy a supportive environment that reduces loneliness and offers respite to carers. Every person has an individualised support plan, whether they require assistance with mobility, personal care, dementia, or other conditions. The centre is dementia friendly, with safe and easy-to-navigate surroundings and trained staff. With flexible days and tailored activities, we focus on maintaining independence, wellbeing, and quality of life at home.

Further info

Our flexible programme of on-site and community-based activities is designed to promote independence, choice, and wellbeing. Activities include therapies that encourage memory, communication, and confidence, ensuring there is something meaningful for everyone.

The centre itself is dementia-friendly, with safe and accessible spaces, and staff who are trained to support people living with dementia. In addition, our experienced in-house clinical team guides day centre staff with expertise in areas such as mobility, independence, speech and language, swallowing, and behaviour.
