Ace Music Therapy

Ace Music Therapy CIC is a not-for-profit organisation providing professional music therapy across Essex and London. Music therapy uses music and interaction to support emotional wellbeing, communication, physical needs, relationships and self-expression. Qualified, HCPC-registered music therapists provide tailored individual and group sessions for children, young people and adults. No previous musical experience is needed. Support may be available in education, healthcare, care and community settings, with free or funded groups offered when funding allows.

Support can include individual music therapy, group sessions, work in schools and colleges, healthcare and community-based support, and services for families, charities, care homes and other organisations. Following a referral, Ace Music Therapy will contact the individual, family member or referrer to discuss their needs and arrange an initial assessment. The therapist will then recommend suitable aims and a plan of support.

Charges may apply for individual sessions and commissioned services. Free or funded community groups may also be available at certain times. Please contact the team to discuss availability, costs and funding options.

Who can use this service?

Children, young people and adults across Essex and London can access the service.

Music therapy may support people experiencing communication difficulties, learning disabilities, autism or other neurodevelopmental conditions, dementia, brain injury, neurological conditions, emotional or mental health difficulties, chronic or life-limiting health conditions, social isolation, or difficulties expressing and regulating emotions.

Referrals are accepted from individuals, families, healthcare professionals, social prescribers, schools, charities, community organisations, social care professionals and care providers.

How are services delivered?

Sessions are led by qualified, HCPC-registered music therapists and tailored to each person’s needs, interests and abilities. No musical experience is required.

Support may be provided individually or in groups, with sessions delivered in education, healthcare, care or community settings. Individual sessions can last up to one hour.- costs may apply. Following an initial assessment, the therapist will agree suitable goals and recommend an appropriate programme of support.
